Description
Ziółko Ground Cayenne Pepper is an exceptionally hot variety of chilli (Capsicum frutescens) – despite its name, it is not actually pepper. Its intense aroma and fiery flavour come from capsaicin. Ideal for Mexican and Indian cuisine, meat and fish dishes, and as a pinch in dark chocolate.
About the product
Ziółko Ground Cayenne Pepper is an exceptionally hot variety of chilli (Capsicum frutescens) – despite its common name, it is not actually pepper. It originates from Spain and comes in the form of a finely ground orange-red powder. Its heat comes from its high capsaicin content – the natural active compound in chilli.
Cayenne has an intense aroma and a burning, warming flavour. Use it with caution in the kitchen – it is significantly hotter than ordinary hot peppers. A versatile spice: ideal for meat, fish dishes and legume-based dishes (chilli con carne, baked beans). A lesser-known but striking use is a pinch of cayenne in dark chocolate – a classic of Mexican tradition.
- 100% ground cayenne pepper – an exceptionally hot variety of chilli
- A fiery flavour from capsaicin – intense aroma, warming
- Versatility – Mexican and Indian cuisine, meat, fish, chocolate
- Gluten-free, GMO-free and preservative-free
Uses
A spice for dishes with a distinct heat: Mexican chilli con carne, enchiladas, tacos, Indian curries, Thai tom yum soups. It also works well in marinades for grilled meats, piri-piri sauces, goulash soup, bean dishes, and as a spicy pinch in dark chocolate and desserts with a hint of cocoa.
How to use
Add gradually until you achieve the desired heat – it’s easy to overdo it with cayenne. Typical starting amount: a pinch for 4 portions of a dish; add more after tasting. For meat: rub in with salt and garlic 30 minutes before cooking. For chocolate: add 1/4 teaspoon to 100 g of dark chocolate whilst melting. If you touch the pepper, do not rub your eyes.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, away from light, moisture and foreign odours.
Ingredients
100% cayenne pepper.
