Ziółko Dried Lovage consists of 100% dried lovage leaves (Levisticum officinale) from Poland. With its sweet, spicy and bitter flavour, lovage gives its distinctive aroma to the famous Maggi seasoning and classic stock cubes. It is added at the end of cooking to chicken broth, stews and vegetable dishes.

Ziółko Dried Lovage consists of dried lovage leaves (Levisticum officinale) of Polish origin. It has an interesting and quite intense flavour: initially sweetish, then slightly sharper, and finally pleasantly bitter.

It is the lovage extract that gives the famous ‘Maggi’ seasoning and most stock cubes their characteristic flavour. Lovage perfectly enhances the flavour of chicken broth – add a few leaves towards the end of cooking to achieve a unique aroma. It also works well in stews, sauces, vegetable dishes and when braising meat. Use in moderation – too much will overpower the dish.

Usage

A seasoning for Polish soups (chicken broth, barley soup, vegetable soup), stews, meat sauces, vegetable dishes (stewed vegetables, cabbage), and homemade vegetable and meat stocks. A good alternative to ready-made stock cubes in home cooking. An addition to quark and sandwich spreads.

Directions

Add at the end of cooking the soup or during the last 5 minutes of stewing – the lovage aroma evaporates quickly during prolonged cooking. Typical serving: 1/2 teaspoon per pot of broth. Use sparingly – the intense aroma can easily overpower a dish. It goes well with parsley, dill, celery, carrots and onions.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, protected from light, moisture and foreign odours.
